The First Tee of Eastern North Carolina - introducing golf to young people

The First Tee

of Eastern North Carolina

Mission Statement

The First Tee of Eastern North Carolina will impact, influence and inspire the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that build character and citizenship, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf and other enduring character-building activities.

We intend to fundamentally change communities for the better in Carteret, Craven, Jones, Lenoir, Onslow, Pamlico, and Pitt counties through The First Tee Life Skills Experience.  By 2017, we will annually involve 5,000+ young people.  We intend to become a completely self-sufficient, endowed organization, supporting ourselves.

A Chinese proverb says for 1 year, plant rice; for 100 years, plant trees; for 1000 years, educate your youth.  The First Tee of Eastern North Carolina is on the 1000-year campaign.

We will achieve change in the community through The Life Skills Experience Curriculum (Nine Core Values and Nine Healthy Habits), National School Program (NSP), School Day Program (SDP), After School Programs (ASP), home office alignment (curriculum/coaching philosophy); delivered by 100+ volunteer coaches.  These three programs, NSP, SDP, and ASP will be our core programs.

Nine Core Values

Why is golf different from other sports?

Players learn values like honesty and responsibility by calling penalties on themselves and reporting their own score. By participating in The First Tee, youth are introduced to Nine Core Values which are incorporated throughout the program.

Who can play?
